THE ROAD TRIP THAT STARTED IT ALL

A couple beers. A big call. No backup plan.

Back in 2012, Jaz & Grant Wearin quit their jobs after a few sparkling red Coopers and booked one-way tickets to the USA. Six months. A motorhome.Dozens of breweries. One obsession – learn how to make better beer, and build something people actually want to be part of.

They came home, backed themselves, and slept on a brewery floor for a year to make it happen.

In 2014, Modus Mona Vale opened its doors with less than $10 in the bank.

No safety net. Just beer.

FROM LOCALS TO EVERYWHERE

Three months in, the awards started rolling.

Didn’t expect it. Didn’t chase it. But it proved one thing – we were onto something.

More tanks. More kegs. More people who gave a damn.

What started as a local brewery turned into beers you now see all across Australia. Same mindset though – make it properly, or don’t make it at all.

BUILT FOR GOOD TIMES (AND BUILD PROPERLY)

When Mona Vale couldn’t keep up, we built again.

Merewether, Newcastle. 2021.

A full-scale brewery designed from scratch – better systems, greener energy, more room to do things right.

It picked up an architecture award. Which is cool.

But we’re more proud of what happens inside it.

Cold beers. Good people. No pretence.

We’re still 100% family owned. Always will be.

From our core staples to our limiteds to NORT (our non-alc alternative), everything we make follows the same rule:

Make something worth drinking.

Or don’t bother.

We’re here for the long run – for the locals, for the road trips, for the fridge fillers, for the “just one more” nights that turn into something better.
